If you were looking forward to the three pedal experience in your new Giulia Quadrifoglio, don't get your hopes up. The latest word is the Giulia will only be offered in the United States with an automatic transmission. Granted, if you have to have an automatic, the eight-speed from ZF is the one to get.

But my thinking was FCA might follow the pattern from the
Fiat 500 Abarth which was
only available with a manual transmission when it was first introduced to USA.
I had also been thinking that sure, the base Giulia and Veloce might only be available with the automatic, but surely the M3-competing Quadrofoglio will offer (and maybe mandate) a manual. But nope, this edict appears to be a decision across the model line.
Tired of waiting for the Giulia QV, so bought a ' previously owned ' Maserati Ghibli S Q4 instead. It has the 8-speed ZF auto-manual and can say that a manual is not the cat's meow any more. Can be operated with the paddle shifters with quicker responses than with any manual and is a pure delight. Shift your line of reasoning and be happy with the decision made by FCA to only use this transmission on the upcoming Alfa Giulia.
